An exhibition by Mateu Coll at Fontsanta Hotel
From Fontsanta Hotel Thermal Spa & Wellness curated by ABA ART, we are pleased to announce the exhibition “To Want and Not to Want” by the multidisciplinary local artist Mateu Coll until the 31st of October.
With a deep connection to the heritage of the place, where a part of his work is set at – an emblem of our health and wonder that nature conceals – the artist offers an evocative exhibition that delicately weaves together art and life in a site-specific production.
Installations, crafted from pieces of used antique linen, pay tribute to the ancestors’ memory and honour not only the material’s sustainability, but also its ancient service to humanity as a material intimately bound to the body, to time and to memory. These works dialogue gently with Coll’s subtle works on paper, inspired by the linen of bandages, already present in ancient Egyptian rituals of care and preservation.
Completing the exhibition is a series of paintings, also on paper, dedicated to the fleeting nature of life and the vulnerability of the human being.
